A good 2021 – 2022 cereal campaign

With 7.7 Mt of grain exported, HAROPA PORT | Rouen achieves its third best performance in the last ten years. China retains its position as the leading destination for cereals shipped by the four Rouen operators.

A high level of performance

HAROPA PORT | Rouen and Rouen grain operators (Groupe BZ, Simarex, Sénalia, Soufflet-Socomac) had a good 2021-2022 campaign. A total of 7.7 Mt of grain was exported between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022.

This result marks an increase of + 17.8 % compared to the previous campaign (6.5 Mt). The final tonnage is above the ten-year average for the port of Rouen (7.1 Mt) and represents its 3rd best performance recorded over the last ten campaigns.


In detail: the final figure represents 5.3 Mt of soft wheat and 2.3 Mt of barley, including 746,000 t of malting barley, the best tonnage ever achieved by the port of Rouen for this product.

China, the leading exporter

With 2.6 Mt of wheat and barley, China is the leading destination for agricultural production exported from Rouen. This tonnage represents a new record for this destination for HAROPA PORT. Morocco is the second destination with 1.6 Mt of wheat and barley.

A high level of performance and operators who are continuing to invest

HAROPA PORT maintains its leading position in France and West Europe. During the campaign, the Rouen terminals received 69 ships (panamax and more), one of the highest levels recorded by the port of Rouen. In February 2022, the port received a load of 54,200 t of wheat, i.e. the second highest tonnage of wheat ever carried out in Rouen.

The market share of the port of Rouen on French maritime exports amounts to 48 %, including 50 % for soft wheat and 60 % for barley.


At the same time, the silos in Rouen continued their investments. The BZ Group has realized several maintenance operations on its facilities. Sénalia updatedthe gantriesof the Presqu’île Elie terminal and finalized the construction of its new head office. For its part, Simarex has built a new car park to facilitate the reception of heavy goods vehicles. Finally, the Socomac silo (Invivo - Soufflet group) achieved the reconditioning of one of its gantries.
